My Inspiration

I thought it would benefit who ever viewed my blog to have a better understanding on what I want to achieve by doing a Foundation course on Media, so I decided to make this inspiration section. On this I am going to tell you what I initially want and why, what has inspired me to choose this path, influences from films or actors or other pieces of work. This includes short reviews on some of my favourite films and evidence of work I am currently in progress in my own time. I hope you enjoy, comments and criticism would be appreciated.
This is just going to be a simple introduction on me. From doing this course I want to achieve a better understanding on all elements of pre-production, production and post-production. And on this course you get many opportunities  to do so, we are given assignments which have to meet professional standards, we have on location tasks and a variety of band sessions which are done in a studio and conducted to professional standards. When doing these tasks we can assign ourselves roles on which to gain experience on, some I really enjoy being involved with are; director, producer, camera operator but what I really want to get experience on is script writing. I originally wanted to be an actor but I watched a clip from a Ricky Gervais show “Extra’s”, were Patrick Stewart says “acting is a noble profession but a tough one........writing, you see that’s the key....as actors the only choice we have is yes or no, whereas if you are writing your own material, you’re creating your own opportunities”. This inspired me to attempt writing my own  material and once I stated I just got more of a passion for it, even though when I look back now on what I wrote was complete rubbish. I still plan and write short pieces that I hope to develop more from and to create a piece that I can be proud of.
I originally wanted to write films both British and American but as I have progressed on the course I realise how difficult it is in the film industry so my current goal (apart from education goals) is to one day write for a drama series on British television. Drama is the main genre of television I really enjoy; I have many ideas for short dramas.  I haven’t started properly writing them up but I like to think I have knack for it.
