Thursday 18th October- Started 3 Minute Assignment, Slow Day

Started today I was really excited seeing as I had found out what the first official moving image assignment was. As I have been working on the documentaries and child action work for the last few weeks I have fallen behind. I asked Jamie if  I was able to work in a group and together the teamwork would allow us to balance the work evenly enough to produce a piece on time. The assignment we were given was to produce a three minute assignment with evidence of all aspects of my progress, which indicates pre-production work; storyboard, shot list, Recce etc. This is an assignment that really excites me considering I can produce anything which means I should aim for something I plan on working towards in the future.
As I want to be a script writer and want to focus on drama’s, I thought it would be best to focus on that, however seeing as I am in a group I must take into consideration their opinions and ideas.  Whilst I was working on the documentary work, I was thinking of a couple of ideas on which to work on for this assignment. I pitched my ideas to my production partner and we wrote up a mind map; as the day progressed Lewis started to feel unwell and had to leave to recover. I stayed to continue the process of thinking of more ideas and angles for certain ideas to improve on, however after some time I realised I wasn’t able to do much as this was now a group assignment for me and Lewis and he may or may not agree with certain things I come up with so I thought it would be more professional just to write out some points and wait till our next production meeting.
Instead of going home early I stayed to see if I could come up with something productive and I came across two art students attempting to work in the studio, after observing them I offered to help set up the camera’s and take role of one of the cameras so that they can get some better shots with pans and tilts instead of plain solid one shots of their art. I knew not to expect much from them as directors in the gallery but it was fun working with them, watching them panic trying to direct me. I also offered to edit their work seeing as it wouldn’t take I long and it gave me something to do. It was close to the end of the day so I decided to do the longest piece first so that I could just do the next one quick. I decided that I am going into college tomorrow to work on the second art piece, so that I don’t have to spend any time next week working on it.
