Today
was a fairly boring day, I had watched over the documentaries we did over the
weekend and noticed some needed adjusting slightly such as a too quick shot,
not stabilised enough etc but my main concern was the fact that the second
documentary gave the impression that the farmer had passed away or something similar.
I suggested we should add a soundtrack just during the credits, something more
cheerful and uplifting instead of nothing at all. Just to save time Becky
decided to use the soundtrack we used previously on the last Documentary, which
worked pretty well. We did the necessary adjustments to the sound levels and
finished off by rendering it.
Jamie
had previously mentioned that we should gather shots of the pupils, the images
and artwork they produced whilst at Dolphinholme so that our first documentary
had a more range of footage when Richard, the art teacher, talks about the
benefit of being at the farm. We haven’t yet got equated with all the students
of the course so we went during class hoping that they would all be there and
most of them were. We wanted to give the impression that we had taken the
footage whilst being at Dolphinholme so we simply got close ups of the artwork
and did some pans & tilts so that if would look more interesting. Whilst we
was doing this Becky was editing the colouring on the confession footage, so
that she wasn’t just waiting for us seeing as it was a simple job of recording
art work out a book. We gathered a range of what we could and looked it over;
Jamie was the one that recommended using it so we put the footage onto a
computer for him to look at. We didn’t really want to add any of the new footage
as Becky, Jordan & I believe the footage we use in the documentary is good
as is and adding and replacing footage is just an unnecessary inconvenience.
Becky
had finished editing the colouring on the confession footage so now we had to
decide on how to structure the sequence. I came up with the idea of putting
each confession into categories, so that we would be easy for the audience to
understand and follow.

Editing
some of the footage was really difficult considering some would say their
confession but then unnecessarily expanding their answer which was making their
segment longer than necessary. Also during some confessions we would either get
flashes in from other cameras making them useless or some shots would pick up a
lot of ambient noises. The ambient noise would have been caused by the fact we
were in a barn, it’s windy, full of goats and cold students. Luckily creating something
like this is usually quick and easy, seeing as the footage was of students
confessing, then the final product should be aimed at students so the product
has to be fast paced and simple as well as funny. This is why I was determined to have Tim as the final
shot to cut from seeing as it is kind of funny and the fact he winks add a
little effect to the audience of enjoyment.
Here is the shot list.

We finished off by adding a soundtrack to the sequence, we
used; Better Days by Adam Drake & Tom Jenkins. We also added the sound
effect “Fill Left” just so that all audio was smoother. Now I have finished
with this I can start focusing working on my first assignment.
